FAQ

Q: Who can act as a Notary Public in Thailand?

A: Only Thai lawyers licensed as Notarial Services Attorneys by the Lawyers Council of Thailand under regulations issued in 2003. Foreign notaries and embassy consuls do NOT have jurisdiction over Thai domestic notarization.

Q: Does a Thai Notary Public need to be present physically?

A: Yes. Thai law requires in-person appearance with a valid passport or Thai ID. Online notarization (RON) is not yet authorized in Thailand as of 2026.

Q: Is Thailand a Hague Apostille member?

A: Yes, effective 2 December 2025. Documents notarized in Thailand can be legalized with a single Apostille for use in 125+ Hague member countries, replacing embassy legalization.

Q: How much does English notarization cost?

A: THB 500–1,500 per signature or copy (notary only). Full chain (Notary + MFA + Apostille) ranges THB 3,000–8,000. Full chain with embassy legalization (non-Hague countries) THB 6,000–15,000.

Q: How long does the full legalization chain take?

A: Notary: same-day. MFA (Consular Dept.): 2–5 business days (regular) or 1 day (express). Apostille: 3–5 days. Non-Hague embassy: 5–14 days. Total: 7–20 business days depending on destination.

Q: Can I get notarization in English if I do not speak Thai?

A: Yes. Our attorneys work fluently in English. Documents can be drafted, notarized and certified fully in English. We also provide certified translation (Thai/English + 40 more languages) if the destination country requires Thai translation.
